Firm Overview

Volio Capital is an independent investment banking and asset management firm headquartered in San José, Costa Rica. Founded in 1998 by Jorge Volio, the firm has grown from a boutique advisory practice into one of Latin America's most experienced independent financial institutions, with more than 280 completed mandates across 15 countries.

Our investment banking practice advises founders, family-owned businesses, corporate boards, and multinational corporations on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, real estate finance, strategic advisory, and financial restructuring. Our asset management platform manages private equity and private credit strategies for institutional investors, including the Electric Mobility Fund — Costa Rica's first regulated private credit fund.

Our senior leadership combines deep Central American operating experience with global institutional backgrounds, including Morgan Stanley, LarrainVial and BAC. We serve clients in Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, and across the broader region.

Our Approach: How We Work

1. Initial Conversation

Every engagement begins with a confidential conversation between the client and a Volio Capital partner. We listen to understand the situation, objectives, constraints, and timeline before proposing any course of action.

2. Situation Assessment & Strategy

We conduct an independent assessment of the client's position — financial, competitive, and strategic — and present a clear recommendation on the best path forward, whether that is a sale, acquisition, capital raise, restructuring, or other strategic alternative.

3. Execution

Once a strategy is agreed, our team manages every aspect of execution: counterparty identification, financial analysis, documentation, negotiation, due diligence coordination, and regulatory processes. Our partners remain directly involved through closing.

4. Long-Term Relationship

Many of our client relationships extend across multiple transactions and decades. We view each mandate as the beginning of a long-term advisory relationship, not a one-time engagement.
